Before the room fills with voices and footsteps, there is a quiet invitation waiting. A space carved out just to pause, breathe, and arrive.
Meadow Moments: A Quiet Afternoon of Presence, Stretch, and Shared Smiles
Before the room filled with chatter and laughter last Saturday afternoon, there was just a quiet moment—a single empty chair waiting at the front of the hall under the soft glow of the screen.
Soon enough, that quiet room transformed as more than 50 participants gathered together—some traveling from nearby blocks, others journeying from across the island to spend the afternoon with us. Among them were dear, familiar faces who had attended our previous sessions, alongside wonderful new friends stepping into the space for the very first time. To have people walk alongside this journey session after session brings such profound, quiet companionship.
Every single encounter matters so deeply to me; each interaction feels like a precious stone, waiting to be gently revealed and polished through shared stories and presence.
Rows of seats resting in anticipation of the hearts and minds that will soon fill them. Every great journey inward begins with simply showing up and taking a seat. 🪑💛
A room full of attentive hearts, sharing in the quiet art of pausing together. There is a deep, collective grace when we give ourselves permission to slow down and listen to the present moment. 🌿🌷
As we settled into our afternoon together, we looked at a familiar, gentle truth we often experience: our body is right here in the room, but our mind is everywhere all at once. We find ourselves caught in those four familiar patterns:
· Mental Absenteeism: Physically sitting in a chair, while our thoughts wander miles away.
· Mental Exhaustion: Running a constant marathon with twenty tabs open in our heads.
· Mental Impatience: Rushing through the present moment, wishing we were already at the next destination.
· Mental Overthinking: Letting our ancient survival instincts treat everyday moments as an emergency.
This brings us to a quiet realization: when our minds are scattered everywhere, where is true peace?
True peace isn't found by waiting for a completely empty schedule or a perfect day. It is found right here, in the simple act of presence—bringing our wandering mind back to this very breath, this very room, and this single moment.
To help us anchor into that presence, we explored a big question:
"When the day gets busy, who do we really want in the driver's seat of our mind? Do we let Ah Tuk—our ancient fight-flight-freeze alarm—run the show, or do we invite Arthur—our calm, clear-thinking companion—to take the wheel?"
We met both Ah Tuk and Arthur, shared plenty of laughter, and couldn't resist having a little fun with some gentle, mindful stretching—moving our bodies with care, listening to our physical limits, and breathing into the present moment as one large group.
A special and heartfelt thank you to NLB Toa Payoh for their wonderful, efficient support on the ground—your kindness made everything run so smoothly.
If you missed out on this round, there is always a seat waiting for you. We would love to warmly invite you to our next session coming up at Geylang East, where we will be exploring Cultivating Self-Care & Kindness.
To everyone who showed up with an open heart last Saturday, thank you. It is a privilege to pause, breathe, and notice life unfolding right here with all of you.
