A Mindful Meow
Sometimes, we think we need to be "doing" something to show love. We plan, we provide, we perform. But then, there is Ashie.
My four-year-old (forever) baby boy - Ashie - reminds me that the most profound act of love is often the simplest: the act of being here. Even in his deepest sleep, he’ll occasionally peep one eye open just to see if I’m still nearby. If I move, he stretches out a paw to touch me—a tiny, furry anchor ensuring that I am still around him.
He doesn’t need a grand gesture. He just needs to know I haven't left. In our busy lives, how often do we offer that same quiet, uninterrupted presence to ourselves or those we love?
3 Small Shifts
> The Gentle Peep: Like Ashie checking in, take a moment to simply "look" at your current state. Am I here right now, or is my mind miles away?
> A Simple Reach: When you feel scattered, reach out to a physical anchor—the warmth of your tea or the feeling of your breath. Let it be your "paw" that brings you back.
>The Joy of Just Being: Try sitting with a loved one (or even yourself) for five minutes without a phone or a task. Notice the quiet comfort in just sharing the same space.
Presence is the quietest form of love. How can you "stretch out a paw" to anchor yourself in the present moment today?
