Last week, my Meadow Moments remained quiet. Life came to a sudden halt when my partner and I were both struck by severe dengue. Between the intense pain and multiple trips to A&E, our world felt temporarily upended.
As I look at the supplies, we gathered to fight this—repellent, patches, and medication—I am reminded of how a tiny, invisible shift can change everything. While our neighbourhood reported 90 cases when this began, that number has since climbed to over 130, and it has been a difficult reminder of the fragility of our daily rhythm.
I’ve had to pause my upcoming workshop and travels to focus on what matters most. In this stillness, three shifts have become clear to me:
🌷The Weight of Guilt I have had to learn that feeling responsible for an accident does not make it my fault. Dengue is a reality in our environment and navigating it with grace requires letting go of the need to blame myself for the invisible.
🌷🌷Surrender over Control I teach the power of intention, but this experience reminded me that we cannot control everything. Sometimes, the most mindful action is to stop fighting the situation, accept the discomfort, and simply allow the body the space to heal.
The Necessity of the Pause We plan and we dream, but our lives are not always our own to dictate. This forced pause was not the break I wanted, but it has been a necessary reminder that our physical vessel is the foundation of everything we do—and it deserves to be honoured, especially when it is tired and seeking well-being.
I will need time and patience to fully recover, but please know that Tulip Meadows lives on, continuing to plant and nurture the seeds of mindfulness and well-being.
Thank you for your kindness. 💚
